I’m gonna be real. I’m a little surprised that I am keeping this series going for a second week. However, here we are and I’m prepared to keep this train moving! So prepare yourself for at least a couple more of these types of posts.

In case you missed the first edition, this is basically a little Discover Weekly playlist that is curated by yours truly. I’m going to be sharing five of the songs that I am obsessed with at the moment. There was a lot of new music released on Friday, so I have lots of material to work with!

On another note, if you have any songs that you are obsessed with at the moment, feel free to let me know what they are! I absolutely love listening to new music and new artists.

Missing You By Ingrid Michaelson

If you know me, you know that I am an Ingrid Michaelson stan. Like I’ve seen her live three times, I know her discography like the back of my hand and I don’t want to brag but I am a Top Fan of hers of Facebook. I’ve been anxious for her to drop new original music and it has finally arrived.

Missing you is the lead single from her upcoming album, Stranger Songs. This project is going to be largely inspired by the hit Netflix television show, Stranger Things. I was a little worried when this project was announced because I wasn’t sure that Ingrid’s vibe would work with the eerie elements of Stranger Things, however after hearing this single, I am very excited for the project.

This song has been stuck in my head all week and I really like the 80’s style and the synthesizer in the background. Ingrid has said that every song on this album was written from the point of view from a character on the television show. In addition to this, they all are very personal and can be applied to Ingrid’s life. Ingrid is known for her personal songwriting and this definitely shines through on this track. Even though this song was written from Nancy’s point of view, it is still relatable to not only Ingrid but me.

Thinkin Bout You By Ciara

Okay, so Taylor Swift actually recommended this song, so I immediately listened and fell in love. It’s such a positive and happy song which totally correlates with the current springtime vibes. It dives into Ciara’s head and how she is simply thinking about this person who won’t get out of her mind.

This song has been out for a couple of months but was included on Ciara’s album, Beauty Marks, which came out on Friday. I really like the album but this track is the clear stand-out. It’s bubbly nature just makes me want to get up and dance, which is something that I almost always do when I am jamming to this song.

Something about this song seems really familiar but it is so fresh at the same time. I did some more research on Ciara and she has had such a long career. She has been dropping music for almost two decades and I feel like this new era will be a good one for her. I can personally see this song being a radio hit and a bop of the summer.

Peach by Kevin Abstract

I have been meaning to listen to Kevin Abstract for a while and I am so glad that I finally got around to it. This song is such a good summer feel good song and I love the vibe that he has produced. (Side note – I also just really love songs called peach. Peach by Broods. Real Peach by Henry Jamison. So many good ones. Also just a great fruit).

The song is all about the good times, when things are all “peaches and cream”. For me, this would be an ideal song to listen to on a boat on a sunny day. Or driving down a road with beautiful scenery with the windows down. It’s just very happy.

I recommend this song because we are entering the summer season, also known as my Thrive Timeā„¢. This is ultimately a summer song and totally goes in hand with the sunny weather that is about to pop out. So make sure to add this song to your playlist when you are compiling songs to make your summer a success.

Shiny By Sara Bareilles

I know what you’re thinking. Bailey! Stop writing about Sara Bareilles. And to that I say – I’m sorry but no. Sara dropped a new song on Friday called Shiny which is kind of an unofficial bonus track to her album, Amidst the Chaos. This song is delicate and came right in time for one of my favorite days of the year – Mother’s Day.

The song is all about Sara’s mom and includes memories which show how she thinks of her mom. Whether it be watching her in the kitchen or reminiscing of their phone calls where they talk about the weather, the lyrics of this song are gorgeous in true Sara Bareilles fashion.

I love this song and it immediately made me think of my mom. It was such a nice surprise and came at the perfect time. I can see this song going overlooked by many due to the fact that it was kind of a spontaneous release. However, I urge you to listen to this song if you want to think of your mom and feel happy inside.

Lottery by Jade Bird

This song was actually a recommendation from my BFF, Sarina Boley, but I fell in love with this song immediately. It’s not overly emotional and is just a really catchy and lovely song about wondering if someone is still into you. This one has been stuck in my head all week and has been one that has been played every single day.

Jade Bird really reminds me of Maggie Rogers but this song in particular is more upbeat and acoustic than a lot of Maggie’s stuff. She has a great voice and I have listened to a couple more of her songs which have also been simply lovely.

This is another great springtime song. The acoustic elements definitely make me want to go outside and lay out with some friends on a blanket. Again, I urge you to look into Jade Bird as I think she is an artist on the rise. I really love this song and remember to be careful as it might get stuck in your head as it did mine.
